This project was made for the live broadcast of the French Open 2025 - in only 2 months, our team at Bongfish was responsible for reconstructing the entire Roland Garros area (all 20 courts and area around them) while the team at Blackshark used their groundbreaking tech to rebuild Paris in 3D through satelite data (the same tech was also used for the Microsoft Flight Simulator). My responsibilites shifted during the entire process - first I was the main person for all the research and making sure we have the correct references - which was not that easy since the whole area has been renovated a lot in the past few years - or designing new assets where needed. I was one of two artists working mainly in UE5, placing everything in the right spots and in charge of all the paths and elevation through-out the area. Once the project was nearing the end I was in charge of optimizing assets (reducing poly-count, textures size, fixing UVs and light-map issues) but also making brand new models according to new references from the 2025 event, which we recieved a couple days before the French Open started. I provided a bit of post-launch support after all artists moved on to other projects and we also made sure to improve our tech and workflow to handle these kind of projects more efficiently next time they come around.
All in all I'm super proud of what we managed to do in this very short time - big thanks to Bongfish for putting me onto this project! Shoutout to these artists for all their modeling efforts:
