Here is some of my work that I did on "Smurfs' Village". It's really just a very small fraction of my favorite items. We had very tight deadlines so I didn't put in nearly as much time into some of the assets as I would like to. Often having only 1-2 days for smaller items (from sketch to final animation) and around 3-5 for bigger ones. We were also quite limited in terms of memory and frame rate - since it's a HUGE game with tens of thousands of items that needs to run smoothly even on cheap Android Devices and old iPhones. We were told to keep things as minimal as possible. You will notice how much nicer the items look once I found what exactly the boundaries where and after becoming Art Director I had a lot more say in regards of what features an item should have so some of the huts and animations were greatly improved and proved to be super popular with players. Taking their feedback to heart and making items just as they want them but turning things up a notch was the coolest thing on this project. Everyone was happy.
This is just me sharing some items that I loved working on and going down memory lane after all those years.
